Quantum take new 'company car' for inaugural run!
Not every company can claim to have a classic 1980s/early 90s sports car on their fleet, but with the Peugeot 205 GTI lovingly restored by Quantum Group director Stephen Pilling now back to its former glory, this company of quantity surveyors and contract specialists most certainly can.
Stephen finally managed to give the car a shakedown in the Harewood Hillclimb, held recently at Harewood House near Leeds. It was a long overdue moment for the iconic French hot-hatch, whose exploits on the track have had to be postponed for more than a year due to Covid restrictions.
On August 8th, however, the race prepared classic was at last able to demonstrate why it was amongst the most sought-after cars of its generation. Stephen's H-reg, 1990 Peugeot 205 GTI managed to storm the hill several times, turning back the years.
Stephen says, "I've been a petrol head almost as long as I've been walking, but I still have a lot to learn before I'm able to push the car to its limits. It was great fun and a bit of a learning curve.
"But not so auspicious - the car had to be retired early in the afternoon needing some mechanical attention! No surprise though, it was kind of expected that something would give.
"The car was fully rebuilt in 2019 but hasn't really seen any action since. So, nothing other than teething trouble. We'll be back there soon!"
Stephen's 205 GTI proudly displays the Quantum Consult and Quantum CPM (Cost & Project Management) brands, two of the divisions within the West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester based company.
