For the record... 'monthly progress records' can prevent financial pain

Don't take the blame at the end of a project - keep your project progress records current and up to date so that everyone knows the story.

We all know that construction projects are complex and rarely go exactly to plan, and the project team often changes. This is why it is so important to have a documented trail of what happens during the project.

Progress records versus verbal agreements

The easiest way to look after your interests during any construction project is to keep good progress records. All too often we find people trying to justify lost time at the end of a contract period. This is all well and good, providing it is when the time has actually been lost, however, this is rarely the case.

It is common for construction projects to suffer a number of unexpected events throughout the works duration. And whilst the project team often works together during the project period to ensure solutions are found and completion is achieved, proper records are not always kept.

This can become a problem and sub-contractors often bear the brunt, particularly on projects which run over a period of months, years or even more. In these lengthy projects, when there are changes to the project team, decisions and discussions of certain individuals earlier in the project can go unrecorded and, when there is no evidence to say what did or did not happen, where does the finger for lost time get pointed?

How Quantum CPM can help

We help sub-contractors to ensure accurate records are kept throughout the project. These can be used and relied upon, if necessary, as well as identifying any issues as early as possible.

Our Monthly Progress Audit service takes care of this. This involves our contract specialists evaluating your progress against the contract programme and, if a delay is identified early on, then there will be time to correct it and put actions in place to catch up.

It is part of our bundle of services designed to help sub-contractors protect themselves in construction projects and make sure their services can be delivered as promised with the minimum fuss or risk of financial loss. These start with Contract Vetting prior to even agreeing to work on the project right through to Retention Fund Management.
